Hi there, my name is Muzaffar. I would like to talk about one of God’s beautiful creatures in the world, whales.

Whales are the biggest of the sea mammals. There are two kinds of whales, they are ballen and toothed. Ballen whales, such as blue whales and humpback have bristly plates instead of teeth in their mouths. These are made of a material called ballen. To feed, the whales take in gulps of water. Tiny creatures are trapped on the ballen as the water drains out. Toothed whales such as the killer whale(orca) have to hunt for their food. 

There are about 23 species of large-toothed whales and 10 species of ballen whales. Some of the whales are very hard to find because of extinction. They may look like a fish but whales are warm-blooded,air-breathing mammals. The blue whale is the largest animal that has ever lived on earth. It can reach a length of 30m and weight of 150 tonnes equal to 20 fully grown elephants. A baby blue whale is already 7m long when it is born, it weighs 1000 times more than a newborn human baby. Like most of other large whales, the blue whale has no teeth. It is a ballen whale that feeds on tiny plankton and krill living near the surface of the sea. Other whales have lots of teeth and feed on fish, squid, seals and penguins.

Male humpback are famous for their beautiful ’songs’. They sing for hours on end, pausing only briefly for breath. Each individual has his own song. He uses these to attract females and frighten off other males.

The sperm whale dives longer and deeper than any other mammal as it searches for giant squid to eat.The deepest recorded dive by a sperm whale is 2000m and the longest lasted nearly two hours.

I would end my article about a different kind of whale, Beluga. This whale is the most adorable whale that ever swam the oceans. It is pure white but the young are grey. It can grow more than 6m. Belugas have no dorsal fin. A plane was built by the inspiration of the beluga’s head, the plane was named Airbus A300-600ST BELUGA.

Mosquito control technique - useful tip!

The mosquito control technique but instead of using Lemon Fresh Joy, i used Harimau Kuat Lemon flavoured dish wash liquid (yellow bottle and about RM2.80) and….. it actually works. Thanks to my niece. It’s cheap and non poisonous like Ridsect of Fumakilla and the others.

Finally, found this simple home tip:-

You have a lot of mosquitoes in your bedroom? Try this.

Mosquito Treatment: So you don’t like those pesky mosquitoes. Here’s a tip that was given at a recent gardening forum. Put some water in a white dinner plate and add a couple drops of Lemon Fr R Set the dish on your porch, patio, picnic table, park bench, or other outdoor area. Not sure what attracts them, the lemon smell, the white plate colour, or what.

BUT … mosquitoes flock to it, and drop dead shortly after drinking the Lemon Fresh Joy/water mixture, and usually within about 10 feet of the plate.

TRY IT— it works just superb! It may seem trivial, but it may also help to control mosquitoes around your home, (especially in areas where the West Nile virus is reaching epidemic proportions in mosquitoes, birds, and humans).

Pass this on to anyone who likes sitting out in the evening, or when they’re having a cook out.

Do you know that Malaysia has 20 public universities and around 37 private universities? Currently each state in Malaysia has at least one public universities and more than 1 private universities. Today the situation is different than 10 or 20 years ago which had few university. Everybody can further their studies at university as long as they have money and have minimum qualification that university deserves.

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) is one of the public universities in  Malaysia . It was established on 18 May 1970. It’s main campus is at Bangi, Selangor, while the other one is at Cheras, Kuala Lumpur which is for medical related courses. UKM was awarded one of four research universities in Malaysia. The other three are Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).  

UKM offers both for diploma and degree study, besides post-graduate study.  The university has twelve faculties including Law, Medicine, Engineering, Science and Technology, and Social Sciences and Humanities. As for me, I was a student of faculty of science and technology, under school of environmental science and natural resources. I took bachelor of Biology, specific in Botany. After almost three years studied there, then I succesfully graduated on August 1997.

especially those that like to bite (mosquitoes, wasps etc.).

Eat asparagus and your sweat will develop an odor that repels insects. Or

apply lemon oil to your skin.

If you are bitten, there are natural substances to soothe the

irritation. Aloe vera has extraordinary powers of soothing skin

disorders. It is available in forms for both internal and external

application in most health and beauty stores.

If you have one of these amazing plants growing at home, cut the

tip off one of the leaves (the leaf will heal itself). Apply the pulp and

juice to the itching or swollen area.

Lightly boiled cabbage or leek makes an excellent analgesic

poultice. Of course, if you are hiking in the woods, you might have a

little trouble finding cabbage !

Plantain also works well. Cut it and rub it to get to the juice then apply it to the affected area.

What to do when you get something in your eye ?     …@yahoogroups.com

Got some dust in your eye ? Or some other irritant like an eyelash or cigarette ash? You can use the following technique to help others as well as yourself.

Before doing anything, make sure you don’t do what you absolutely shouldn’t: rub or press the eye, lift the eyelid, or remove contact lenses without washing your hands.

How to proceed?

· Examine your eye. Is it red ? Swollen ? Is it tearing ? What do you feel ? Does it itch ? Burn ? Is your vision blurred ?

· Let nature do its work - it is usually effective. Tears and natural eye movements will usually get rid of the irritation.

· Try rinsing your eye with some warm water, or with drops. You can pull on the skin around the eyes, but don’t touch the eyelid.

· If this doesn’t work, wash your hands, and then lift both the upper and lower eyelids to locate the irritant. Is it on the inside of one of the eyelids, or is it stuck to the eyeball itself ? Pour some sterilized, warm water on your eye to flush the irritant out.

· If you can’t locate the irritant or if the discomfort persists after you have removed the particle, you would better consult a doctor.
