This lesson is about writing simple and continuous Questions and Answers using Plural subjects

  • Know how to find the root question from a  Simple or Continuous Verb sentence

Conclusion

1. In Simple Present Tense

  • A Plural subject combines directly with a Simple Plural Verb, eg : I go
  • In a Question, Use ‘do’ before a subject, followed by a simple verb, eg : Do you go?

2. In Present Continuous Tense

  • I is used with ‘am’ followed by a continuous verb, eg : I am going
  • You is used with are followed by a continuous verb, eg : You are going
  • The position of ‘am’ and ‘are’ are reversed in Question, eg : Are you going? Am I going?

3. In sentences using an adjective or preposition, the use of am and are is similar to continuous verb, eg : I am happy, You are happy, Am I Happy? Are you happy?

4. Common errors to avoid : I am go, I going, Are you go? Do you going? Do you happy?

Lesson : Present Perfect Verb, Simple Past
1. Di dalam dialog di atas, ada 3 cara memperkenalkan sesuatu benda atau tempat
a. penggunaan ialah, iaitu is, are atau am (no verb)
b. penggunaan terdapat : there is atau there are (no verb)
c. penggunaan imbuhan di seperti dinamakan : is called (perfect verb)
2. Apabila menggunakan imbuhan di, gabungkan verb to be dengan perfect verb
Contoh : Pakaian dijual di kedai itu
Clothes are sold at the shop
Kedai itu dibuka pada pukul 9 pagi
The shop is opened at 9 am
3. Bezakan Perfect Verb & Simple Past Tense Verb
Perfect : given, taken, bought, opened, shown, written
Simple Past : gave, took, bought, opened, showed, wrote :
Perfect Verb : The letter is written already
(Subject + Verb to be + perfect verb)
Simple Past : He wrote the letter
(Subject + simple verb)

Lesson : Preposition (Kata Arah)

1. right in the middle bermaksud : betul-betul di tengah
2. is located bermaksud : terletak
3. next to bermaksud : di sebelah, tetapi right next to bermaksud : betul-betul di sebelah
4. Apabila menggunakan preposition, verb to be (iaitu : is, are atau am) hendaklah digunakan selepas subject. The plaza is, The banks are, I am

Ada ramai orang di sini, apa tempat ini?

It terletak di Kuah
Kuah is the city of Langkawi
Kuah ialah (sebuah) bandar di Langkawi
This night market is on Wednesday and also Saturday
Pasar malam ini (dibuka) pada hari Rabu dan Sabtu
So, you can always visit here if you like to see the local culture
Jadi, awak boleh selalu berkunjung di sini sekiranya awak suka (mahu) melihat budaya di sini
What time do they open?
Pukul berapa mereka buka?
and what time do they close?
Dan pukul berapa mereka tutup?
Around evening maybe it starts around 5
Pada waktu petang, mungkin ia bermula pukul 5
Then it will be closed around 10 to 11
Kemudian ia akan ditutup sekitar pukul 10 ke 11

Lesson : Simple Present Verb, Singular & Plural
1. Belajar cara menyoal :

What time do they open?

Di dalam ketiga-tiga soalan di atas, struktur soalan dalam B.I ialah :
Wverb1subject verb2
verb1 ialah pasangan kepada verb2
contoh verb2 : open, close. pasangannya di kiri ialah do
W ialah : What, Where, Why dsb..

2. what is this place?
di dalam soalan di atas, sebenarnya ayat itu tidak mempunyai verb.
Bagi sesuatu soalan yang tidak menggunakan verb, maka is atau are atau am perlu digunakan sebagai ganti, bergantung dengan jenis subject.
Sekiranya subject itu ialah singular, pasangannya ialah : is
sekiranya subject ialah plural, pasangannya ialah : are
sekiranya subject ialah I, pasangannya ialah : am

3. this place ialah subject singular, oleh itu pasangannya ialah is apabila ayat itu tidak menggunakan verb

4. Sekiranya ayat itu menggunakan verb, maka does hendaklah digunakan.
