FUTURE ACTIONS – QUESTIONS

There are 4 ways to describe future action questions

1. Simple Future Questions

[Vf] + [Subject (P) or (S)] + [Vs.pr(p)]

  • Vf = Futufre Verb, eg : Can, Will, Must, Should, May, Might
  • Vs.pr (p) = take (Verb – simple present plural), S = Singular, P = Plural

Examples :

  • Can I go there tomorrow?
  • Can she go there tomorrow?

2. Future Continuous Questions

[Vf] + [ I ] + [ be ] + [ Vc ]

[Vf] + [ Subject (S) ] + [ be ] + [ Vc ]

[Vf] + [ Subject (P) ] + [ be ] + [ Vc ]

  • Vc = Continuous Verb, eg : taking, S = Singular, P = Plural
  • Vf = Future Verb : will,  can, should, must, would etc

Examples :

  • eg : will I be taking, will she be taking
  • eg : will they be taking

3. Future Continuous and Simple Questions

[Am] + [I] + [going to] + [Vs.pr(p)]

[Is] + [Subject (S)] + [going to] + [Vs.pr(p)]

[Are] + [Subject (P)] + [going to] + [Vs.pr(p)]

Vs.p r(p)= Simple present (plural) Verb, eg : take, S = Singular, P = Plural

  • eg : am I going to take?
  • eg : is she going to take?
  • eg : are they going to take?

4. Future Non Verb Sentences

(Sentences using adjective, preposition, noun)

Note : Whenever there is no verb after a subject, future ‘to be’ ie  will be must be used before the adjective, preposition or noun. Note : S = Singular, P = Plural, p = preposition, a = adjective, n = noun

[Vf] + [ I ] + [ be ] + [ p / a / n ]

[Vf] + [ Subject (S) ] + [ be ] + [ p / a / n ]

[Vf] + [ Subject (P) ] + [ be ] + [ p / a / n ]

  • Vf = Future Verb : will, can, must, should, could, etc
  • eg : will I be satisfied?, will I be there?, will I be a nurse soon?
  • eg : will she be sad?, will she be there?, will she be a manager?
  • eg : will they be excited?, will they be in the room?, will they be lawyers soon?

Note : S = Singular, P = Plural

1. Simple Future Questions

  • I : will I take a leave tomorrow? won’t I take a leave tomorrow?
  • S : will she take a leave tomorrow? won’t she take a leave tomorrow?
  • P : will they take a leave tomorrow? won’t take a leave tomorrow?

Note : There is a rule in English Grammar that whenever don’t, doesn’t, didn’t or won’t (will not)  are used, the verb to follow must be Simple Present Plural, eg : don’t take, doesn’t take, didn’t take, won’t take

2. Future Continuous Questions

  • I : I will I be taking the course next month? Why won’t I  be taking the course?
  • S : will she be taking the course next month? Why won’t she be taking the course?
  • P : will they be taking the course next month? Why won’t they be taking the course?

3. Future Continuous and Simple Questions

  • I : am I going to take dinner later? am I not going to take dinner?
  • S : is she going to take dinner later? is she not going to take dinner?
  • P : are they going to take dinner later? are they not going to take dinner?

4. Future Non Verb Questions

Adjective (a), Preposition (p), Noun (n)

  • I : will I be very happy (a)? will I not be confident (a)?
  • S : will she be in her office later (p)? will she not be in her room (p)?
  • P : will they be doctors soon (n)? will they not be lawyers (n)?

This lesson is about writing simple and continuous future sentences using Plural and Singular subjects

Duration : 90 minutes

  9. (cont + simple) Q : How long are you going to study?
  10. (cont + simple) A : I am going to study about 4 years

Conclusion

1. In Simple Future Tense

  • A Plural or Singular subject combines directly with a Simple Plural Verb, eg : I will go
  • In a Question, Use ‘will/can/must/should etc)’ before a subject, followed by a simple verb, eg : Will you go?

2. In Future Continuous Tense

  • I is used with ‘will be’ followed by a continuous verb, eg : I will be going
  • She is used with ‘will be’ followed by a continuous verb, eg : She will be going
  • You is used with ‘will be’ followed by a continuous verb, eg : You will be going
  • The position of ‘will’ are reversed in Question, eg : Will you be going? Will I be going?

3. In sentences using an adjective or preposition, the use of ‘will be’ is similar to continuous verb, eg : I will be happy, You will be happy, will I be happy? will you be happy?

4. In combination of Future continuous and simple sentence

  • is, are or am must be used before ‘going to’ followed by a simple verb, eg : I am going to see her now. She is going to see you now. They are going to see us tomorrow

5. Common errors to avoid : I will be go, I will going, Will you be go? Will you going? Will you happy?

Note : Where necessary, will be can also be replaced with : can be, should be, must be, would be etc

Examples :

  • eg : I will be taking, She will be taking
  • eg : They will be taking

3. Future Continuous and Simple Sentences

[I] + [am] + [going to] + [Vs.pr(p)]

[Subject (S)] + [is] + [going to] + [Vs.pr(p)]

[Subject (P)] + [are] + [going to] + [Vs.pr(p)]

Lesson : Simple Present Verb,  Simple Future Verb, Present Perfect Verb

1. is called bermakna dinamakan. Apabila menyusun imbuhan di pada katakerja, caranya di dalam bahasa Inggeris ialah : (verb to be) + (perfect Verb)
Contoh lain : Kedai itu dibuka pukul 10pagi
The shop is opened at 10am
2. If you wish to go… Perhatikan apabila menggunakan sesuatu katakerja di dalam kawasan Object, salah satu caranya ialah dengan menggunakan perkataan to diikuti dengan katakerja.
Contoh lain : Saya hendak pergi ke kedai
I want to go to the shop
3. Tetapi, apabila menggunakan katakerja future seperti will, may, can, must dan should, perkataan to tidak boleh digunakan!!
Contoh : It may cost..

Lesson : Simple Present Verb,  Simple Future Verb

1. Apabila kita membuat ayat, pastikan ia bermula dengan satu subject, diikuti dengan satu katakerja (verb). Subject diwarnakan hijau, verb diwarnakan merah. Yang seterusnya dinamakn objek.
2. Objek boleh mengandungi semua jenis perkataan di dalam B.I termasuk katanama, katakerja, katasifat, kata arah dsb
3. Apabila menggunaka satu subject, pastikan anda kenalpasti samada ia singular atau plural
4. Singular subject perlu bergabung dengan singular verb, Plural subject perlu bergabung dengan plural verb. Perhatikan susunan subject dan verb dibawah
